Sahara, Mikixi, and Friends: Protection and Manwork Training at Pit Track

Since she was just 10 weeks old, Sahara has been dedicated to learning the skills that keep both her family and others safe. Starting with basic protection and detection training, she has moved through progressively advanced facilities, approaching each new stage with enthusiasm and dedication. Along the way, she has made wonderful friends like Mikixi (Booboo), Dex (her boyfriend), Duppie, and many other amazing dogs from various breeds, all training for different specialized purposes.

In July 2024, Sahara began training with Pit Track, and as her fur parents, we couldn’t be prouder of her progress. Pit Track offers puppy, intermediate, and advanced training, as well as detection and tracking training—our next big goal for Sahara. She is currently trained in protection and detection and is continuing to develop her skills. With Pit Track’s expert guidance, we are confident she will continue to excel in her training journey.

Along with her friends Mikixi, Dex, Duppie, and others, Sahara has been gaining more advanced skills while bonding with the incredible team at Pit Track. The training sessions are challenging, but always fun, thanks to Captain Carl Thornton and his team. They work tirelessly to make every session exciting and rewarding for both the dogs and their humans.

Pit Track is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) specializing in K9 conservation and anti-poaching efforts. The team consists of highly skilled, passionate members and affiliates who have devoted their lives to wildlife protection. With field rangers trained in human scent tracking and DH5-accredited substance detection handlers, Pit Track’s K9 unit is one of the most specialized and effective in the industry.

They operate in high-risk areas to protect endangered species, using human scent tracking K9s that work as a pack, contraband detection K9s, and patrol K9s for protection. Their mission is simple but powerful: unity in the fight to preserve wildlife.

Pit Track also offers expertly trained service or personal K9s for various purposes, including security, search and rescue, personal and property protection, and conservation work. They also provide K9-handler training to ensure that every K9 and their handler form a well-coordinated, effective team.
